René Staud was born 1951 in Stuttgart. Even at an early age he was fascinated by photography. He garnered the necessary know how through numerous photo courses during his school years. At the tender age of twelve he achieved first honors and prizes by winning photo competitions and at fourteen he became the proud owner of his very first hard, earned single lens reflex camera. And just a few years later, from the sales of souvenir and portrait photographs, he set up his first black-and-white photo laboratory.

After successfully graduating from school, he began an apprenticeship at a portrait studio and photo-shop. Even while serving his Community Service in the German Federal Armed Forces René Staud worked as a photo assistant and freelance photographer. Rene found his way into freelance photography and his own business rather by coincidence, after not finding a proper job in a firm as a photographer. First he began to accept assignments as a wedding photographer reporter/ photographer, and which through popular demand gave way to product and advertising photography.

Quickly he recognized the need for studio photography and he adapted himself to this development. Thus in 1975 René Staud moved into his very first studio in Wendlingen. The big breakthrough came when he succeeded with the development of the Magic flash®, then, lighting system that could be exactly adjusted to the creative needs of the studio photography.

Due to this innovative surface illuminating technology, a technique which allowed Rene to enter the world of automobile photography and led him to future success.. Moreover this lighting concept soon convinced the experts and enabled him to receive numerous photographic assignments from renowned car makers. His drive to further perfect the technique and to increase the photographic workflow brought him to the realization that he needed a new studio – hence in 1985 a large studio was opened in Leonberg.

Today, even after more than 25 years experience in advertising photography René Staud is still very active in all ranges of the automobile photography. At this juncture his exacting and sophisticated photographic images; the most modern technology, as well as perfectionism related to his craft has kept Rene and his studio in great demand. Many well known and prestigious car manufacturers belong to his clientele.

To a large extent, the Leonberg studios are used by Rene Staud\'s 20-people team today, but due to the high technical studio standard, guest photographers gladly come from within Germany and abroad.
